March 6, 2020

Dear John Hay Families,

We are writing to let you know that we met with Principal Beach and Vice Principal Clement and it was decided that the Live Auction on March 14th will not take place as originally planned, but it will be reimagined. This was not an easy decision for anyone given how much work has been put in by the auction team. But we have secured a new date and location for the auction! The Live Auction will now take place at Exhibition Hall at the Seattle Center on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

The auction team has been working on making adjustments to the online auction. The online auction will now be extended through March 31stThere will be even more items added to BFG!!  You will now be able to bid on grade level artwork, more baskets, and teacher experiences. The online auction IS STILL TAKING PLACE.

The only thing that has been canceled is the Bee’s Knees Bash (aka kid’s auction). Raffle items that were previously going to be used for the kid’s auction will be raffled off at a future all school assembly. Stay tuned for more on this next week!

Kids Candid Photos that were previously only available at the live auction will be sent home in red folders next week. If you plan on purchasing the photo, please fill out the form in the red folder. We are asking for a $50 donation for each professionally shot photo. Cash or check will be acceptable. Checks can be made out to the John Hay Foundation.

For those of you who have already purchased tickets, these will be applied to the new date. If for some reason you would like a refund, please stop by Lynn Baker’s office.

This year’s auction goal was $200,000 and now the continuation of our programs at John Hay rely on every family’s participation in bidding on our online auction and making monetary donations. The auction committee sincerely asks that you, your friends, and family help us reach this goal by bidding on Spread the word!

We know that there have been a lot of changes and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate the current situation. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions/concerns.

Thank you,
