Day in and day out, seemingly ordinary folks perform heroic tasks at John Hay Elementary, filling many critical roles and performing vital duties that are too often unsung. Today we’d like to focus on one of these people, a very special volunteer named Kim Coma.

You may not think you know Kim, but you do. She’s greeted you warmly and reassured you at your first Kindergarten Meet and Greet. She’s flashed you an easy smile as you breeze through Hay Way during pickup. She cheers on the parents as she coordinates classroom baskets for the auction every year. She’s patiently guided you through your first encounter with the dreaded laminator. She’s always prepared, producing that stapler you needed right on the spot from her “organized clown car of a bag.” She always says yes to lending a hand, tirelessly organizing class projects, large and small. She’s charmed your little ones with her warmth…and a pocketful of Hershey kisses. And she somehow remembers ALL their names, a skill worthy of a superhero.

In her six years as a John Hay parent, Kim has been described as the “uber-volunteer”, the “office angel”, a “wonder”, “generous”, and “irreplaceable”. Efficient, detail oriented, supportive, ready to help with anything…and modest, always avoiding the spotlight. Until now.

Thank you for everything you do for us, Kim! You’ve been a true friend to John Hay and set an extraordinary example for all of us.

I spoke too soon, was too excited and made a grammatical error but this
way I get to repeat. John Hay students, staff and community ARE (not
"is") so fortunate to have Kim's expertise, caring and
efficiency. Congratulations again Kim.

Congratulations to Kim. She comes from "good stock"......her
dear Auntie has instilled ""office angel" qualities in
this outstanding young woman a lifetime. The apple does not fall far
from the tree.
John Hay students, staff and community is so fortunate to have her
expertise, caring and efficiency.
